This CanM8 module is used for cars where the reversing light is not controlled via a simple 12V line, but via the car's CAN bus (data protocol). The module interprets the car's data signals and detects when the reversing light is activated. When this happens, the module outputs a 12V plus signal that can be used to switch on additional reversing lights.

The module is usually mounted inside the car's cabin, but the location varies between different car models and can be, for example, at the steering column, the diagnostic socket, behind the stereo or the glove compartment. We recommend that the installation is carried out by a qualified technician.

The module has a hidden LED at the connector that shows the status:

Flashing red: Contact with CAN bus and vehicle status is being checked

Green light: Contact with CAN bus and vehicle identified

Red light: Contact with CAN bus but vehicle not identified – check connection points according to the instructions.

Other possible causes of errors are incorrectly connected CAN bus (High and Low reversed), broken interface or poor power supply.

Important: When changing the connection point, the module must be disconnected from the power supply.
